Speaker: Ms. Janette Sham
Ms. Janette Sham is a senior managing associate of Bird & Bird, she have more than 10 years experience in handling local and foreign trade mark prosecution work, including but not limited to, advising clients on international trade mark portfolio management, providing advice on the registrability of trademarks, conducting trademark clearance searches, devising trade mark filing strategies, handling official actions and contentious proceedings such as trade mark opposition, revocation and invalidation actions, as well as trade mark post registration matters such as trade mark assignments, licenses and security interests. She also advise clients on IP enforcement matters and assist clients in conducting IP due diligence for merger and acquisition projects that involve transactions for intellectual property rights.
Before joining Bird & Bird, Janette had served in the Intellectual Property Department of the Hong Kong Government where she obtained useful insights into the trade mark examination requirements in Hong Kong and gained invaluable experience in handling trade mark hearings before the Hong Kong Trade Marks Registry.

Speaker: Mr. Victor Tse
Mr. Victor Tse is an intellectual property counsel of Bird & Bird. He specialises in intellectual property matters in China and Hong Kong, and advise on a wide range of legal issues involving technology, including: advising on IP protection strategies; advising on ways to minimise IP risk when using, developing or commercialising technology; advising on commercial agreements and IP licences; and handling related disputes. He has also drafted, analysed and prosecuted numerous patent applications around the world.
His litigation and advisory experience has touched on a variety of IP issues involving telecommunications, software/electronics, fintech, gaming, medical devices, advanced materials, complex machinery and fast moving consumer products. As a litigator, he is quick to spot issues and weaknesses in IP rights, and work closely with clients to formulate strategies to exploit or overcome the relevant issues. Given my technical background, he is often asked to explain technical details in a way that helps clients (and also judges) understand and really appreciate the significance of a technology.
As an experienced patent attorney, he leverages on his litigation experience to help clients obtain more useful IP protection that can make a significant difference when used in litigation or commercial/licensing transactions.
